What is quantity surveying consultation?

Quantity surveying in consultancy requires enhanced financial expertise and in-depth knowledge of a construction project’s lifecycle.

Quantity Surveyors act as consultants in the detailed planning and procurement stages of a project from the start, from estimating, cost planning, and drawing up procurement strategies to analysing project specifications and drawings.

Following this stage, they give indispensable advice as they assess the quantities of materials, labour and resources required, preparing accurate cost estimates, tender documents, and bills of quantities.

A major part of the role is in ensuring a smooth communication between clients, contractors, and stakeholders, and being available to advise on and deal with any issues – ensuring projects remain within the budgetary limits and that financial interests are always considered.

A typical day can see Quantity Surveyors playing a crucial role in contract administration, assessing variations, and valuing changes while also making site visits to ensure the project is on track.

Their valuable insights and experience in tackling a multitude of tasks and potential issues are a crucial factor in effective quantity surveying consultation that drives the success of construction projects.

Testimonials

“Atkins is a great company that I will call on in the future.
Nicole provided a fantastic service. I was well prepared for the interview because Nicole interviewed me before the interview basically to check I was suitable for the role – that is a great idea for all parties and it is the first time I have experienced that approach. Should I need Nicole in the future I will be in touch.
Great work Nicole, thank you very much indeed.”
