Role
As an experience Quantity Surveyor in Derby, you'll oversee all commercial and financial aspects of live projects, managing cost control and contract administration from procurement through to final accounts. Working under JCT contract conditions, you'll have the tools and authority to lead cost planning, subcontractor coordination and stakeholder engagement to ensure projects meet financial and programme targets.
Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Collaborate closely with the Contracts Manager and project team to ensure delivery within budget and programme
- Manage cost planning and commercial delivery across healthcare and social housing schemes
- Lead subcontractor procurement, valuations and cost reporting
- Ensure compliance with JCT contract conditions
- Conduct regular site visits
- Provide accurate forecasting, cost analysis, and value engineering support
- Chair commercial meetings with clients, contractors and supply chain partners, ensuring clear communication and issue resolution
- Support project profitability, cost certainty and continuous improvement across the delivery team
Person
The ideal candidate for the Quantity Surveyor job will have a proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor in a construction main contracting environment. You will also need to be proactive, positive and confident communicating at all levels and able to work as part of a team.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or construction consultancy background
- Strong understanding and practical experience managing JCT contracts and contract administration in healthcare or social housing projects
- RICS accreditation or equivalent cost management qualification (highly desirable)
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills to coordinate cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
- Full UK driving licence – essential for regular site visits across the Midlands
- Knowledge of construction cost controls, risk management and compliance processes
Remuneration
