Project Manager

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in RC frame and groundworks looking for your next freelance opportunity in the West Midlands?

We’re working with an established civil engineering and construction contractor delivering major reinforced concrete frame and groundworks packages across Wolverhampton. Due to continued project growth, we’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead schemes from inception through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and hands-on Project Manager to oversee both site and office functions while managing client relationships and driving successful project delivery.

As a Project Manager on site in Wolverhampton, your responsibilities will include:

• Oversee all aspects of RC frame and groundworks projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to required quality standards
• Develop, manage, and monitor project programmes, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies
• Lead and coordinate project teams including Site Managers, Engineers, and support staff
• Manage office-based project operations, ensuring effective communication, reporting, and documentation
• Allocate labour, plant, and materials efficiently to meet project demands
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong and professional relationships
• Attend client meetings, progress reviews, and programme update meetings
• Provide regular updates on programme performance, risks, and key project milestones
• Work closely with commercial teams to monitor budgets, variations, and cost control
• Support procurement processes and subcontractor management
• Prepare and present project progress reports to senior management and clients
• Maintain accurate project documentation including reports, programmes, and correspondence
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards

To be successful in this Project Manager job, you will need:

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within RC frame and groundworks sectors
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and programme management
• Experience managing both site operations and office-based functions
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication abilities
• Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office
• Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline

Desirable:

• Experience delivering large-scale RC frame packages across residential, commercial, or infrastructure sectors
• SMSTS, CSCS, or additional construction management certifications
• Strong understanding of NEC/JCT contracts and commercial processes

This Project Manager opportunity offers:
