As a Construction Estimator in the East Midlands operating across Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and the surrounding areas, you will play a key role in pre-construction and tendering, working closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and wider commercial team to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of building projects.

This is a hands-on, client-facing pre-construction estimator position with real autonomy and involvement across the full tender process - from early engagement to final submission. You'll support construction cost planning and contribute to bid strategy on schemes across the East Midlands.

This Cost Estimator Construction opportunity is ideal for an ambitious professional looking to develop their estimating career with a respected regional contractor.

As an Estimator based in Nottingham or surrounding East Midlands region, your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for design & build and traditional build projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation to ensure accuracy
• Produce detailed bills of quantities and quantity takeoff using first principles
• Source and manage subcontractor and supplier quotes to secure competitive pricing
• Work collaboratively with the operations, commercial and design teams
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings across the East Midlands
• Assist with tender risk assessments and value engineering options
• Support with post-tender negotiations and handover to delivery teams

To be successful in this Construction Estimator Midlands role, you'll have previous experience working for a main contractor, ideally on a mix of new build and refurbishment schemes. You'll be detail-oriented, commercially aware and confident working independently or as part of a team.

The ideal candidate for this Estimator role in the Midlands will bring strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Requirements:

• Experience as an Estimator with a construction main contractor
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, building regulations and build cost estimator principles
• Experience in producing estimates and take-offs from first principles
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel for cost analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of JCT and design & build contracts preferred
• Degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline is desirable
