May has been a quick month here at Atkins Search. Our team came together to celebrate birthdays, attend events and complete training sessions to brush up on our knowledge and keep up to date on the newest technologies. Despite May moving quickly, our construction recruitment has prioritised operational efficiency to ensure we’re delivering maximum value. Here’s Everything we got up to in May.
Treetops Charity Football Match
This month, we attended our Charity Football Match that was organised by our own Emma Welsh. This brought the local community together for a brilliant family-friendly day in support of our charity of the year – Treetops Hospice and in memory of Dominic Welsh. The day was packed with fun for all ages, including a lively football match that finished 5-0 to the home team, delicious food stalls from The Bridge Notts CIC, The Meatles and The Pizza Shack, as well as fair rides and face painting for the children. Guest also had the chance to get involved with our raffles and “Guess the Lion” competition. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and helped make the day such a success while honouring Dom’s memory.
Nicole Broughton Attended Switch Up
Nicole Broughton attended the annual Switch Up event as a guest of Pick Everard! The annual ball brought together an amazing community of supporters, partners, sponsors and friends for an unforgetting evening. Overall, £73,000 was raised for the incredible cause which will directly support young people across Nottinghamshire. It will also great to see some new and existing faces at the event too!
Ashleigh Curwood Attended Proper Tee Charity Golf Day
Ashleigh Curwood attended the Proper Tee Charity Golf Day as a guest of Henry Brothers! The day consisted of playing alongside golfers and non-golfers, raising money for charity, and meeting new people. Ashleigh said – “As a non-golfer, I’m quite proud of myself for getting into the swing of things… with plenty of laughs, tips, and tricks along the way. Safe to say there’s still a lot of room for improvement! I can’t say I’ll be the next Rory McIlroy anytime soon, but I’d definitely love to attend again next year!”
Mental Health Wellbeing Walk
For Mental Health Awareness Week, the team took some time away from our desks to focus on wellbeing and to embrace this year’s theme – Take Action. During lunch, we stepped away from the desks for a wellbeing walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve. We took time to get outdoors, rest, and connect with colleagues in a different setting. We rounded off with a stop at Costa Coffee for a well-earned coffee and conversation. Supporting mental wellbeing doesn’t always require big changes. Sometimes, taking action can be as simple as making time for a walk, checking in with colleagues, or stepping away from the day-to-day to recharge. Mental Health Awareness Week is an important reminder that small, positive actions can have a meaningful impact on both individual wellbeing and team culture.
UKREiiF 2026
This year was the teams third year and UKREiiF and it was definitely the best year yet! The three days consisted of many fringe events across Leeds including co-hosting a breakfast with Selcon and a lunch with Stepnell. Drinks with MDA Consulting, Pagabo event at Roxy Ball Room and Wainwright’s networking event. UKREiiF 2026 once again provided a valuable opportunity to connect with industry leaders, clients, and partners from across the built environment. With thousands of professionals coming together to discuss the future of the construction sector, the event continues to be an important platform for sharing ideas, building relationships, and gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the market.
Internal Training
Each week in May, we held internal training sessions to continue our commitment to keeping the Atkins Search team at the top of their game. We always aim to stay sharp on recruitment best practices, market trends and the latest technologies within the construction and property industries. This way, our consultants are always well-equipped to support both employers and candidates in the built environment sector.
