As Halloween crept up on us and the darker nights set in, the Atkins Search team proved that October is one of the busiest and most exciting months in the recruitment calendar. Our construction consultancy, engineering and built environment recruitment specialists were out in full force, attending networking events across the UK and celebrating many personal achievements. Discover what we got up to below:
Site Visits and Team Events
October kicked off with valuable client engagement and networking within the construction and civil engineering sectors. Ashleigh Curwood, Laura Belcher and Antony Rowe representing Atkins Search at the Cleggs Construction Padel tournament. This was a great opportunity to strengthen our partnerships within the East Midlands construction community and reinforce our commitment to being an engaged construction recruitment agency who goes beyond traditional hiring methods.
Meanwhile, our recruitment consultants, Ashleigh and Emma Welsh, visited Cleggs Construction’s live project to gain first-hand insight into the incredible work being done on site. Attending construction sites is an important part of our relationship-led recruitment approach, helping us understand the environments our candidates work in and ensuring we continue to match top construction talent with leading employers across the UK.
Celebrations and Career Milestones
At Atkins Search, celebrating success is at the heart of our company culture. October saw plenty of reasons to celebrate, including birthdays for both Jess White and Jess Jones, who were treated to well-deserved recognition (and plenty of cake). Jess Jones also reached her one-year anniversary with the business and secured a fantastic promotion to Marketing Executive, reflecting her creativity, strategic input and hard work in driving our recruitment marketing strategy forward.
We were also thrilled to celebrate Lily-Grace Cooper’s two-year work anniversary at Atkins Search. Over the past two years, Lily has played a key role in supporting our business and consultants. However, in the past year she has also helped candidates find construction and engineering jobs across the Midlands and Yorkshire. Her professionalism and deep sector knowledge continue to make her an invaluable part of the team.
Training, Development and Recognition
Continuous development is a cornerstone of how we operate at Atkins Search. This October, Laura Belcher delivered two in-house training sessions focused on professional development, candidate engagement and client relationship management. Providing ongoing training ensures our team remains at the forefront of recruitment best practices, using the latest tools and technology to connect top talent with leading employers in construction, civil engineering and the built environment.
We also wrapped up Q2 with our quarterly company review, where Olivia Hartley was named Employee of the Quarter for her outstanding effort, dedication and consistent delivery of results. Recognising and rewarding our team’s performance is key to maintaining our high standards and delivering exceptional recruitment services to clients and candidates alike.
Networking and Industry Engagement
Building lasting relationships within the construction industry is very important to us as a specialist construction recruitment agency. In October, Ashleigh Curwood and Nicole Broughton represented Atkins Search at The Build Club, which was an important networking event bringing together key figures from the construction and property sectors. These opportunities allow us to stay up to date with emerging trends, new projects and the challenges shaping the UK construction market.
Elsewhere, Emma Welsh and Ashleigh Curwood attended the Meet the Buyer event by Local Supply Chain Management, connecting directly with industry leaders and potential clients. Meanwhile, Amy Hutchinson, Laura Belcher and Olivia Hartley supported a brilliant cause by taking part in the Mac Construction Consultants charity networking event and strengthen our professional networks across the Midlands, Yorkshire and beyond.
Cultural Moments and Community Values
October was also a month of reflection and remembrance. The team came together to celebrate Diwali in honour of Neesha’s memory. Last year Neesha encouraged us to wear our brightest outfits and bought in homemade cuisine. This year we continued her tradition and filled the office with vibrant colours, traditional food and snacks.
Halloween Fun and Team Spirit
To round off the month, we hosted a Halloween Pumpkin Carving Competition, and the creativity on display was frightfully good. The entries showcased our team’s competitive and creative sides. Congratulations to Jess White for their eerily impressive design, which earned her this year’s monetary prize!
Looking Ahead to November
October was packed with lots of achievements and networking events, and we’re incredibly proud of how the Atkins Search team continues to build careers and shape futures within the UK construction market. As we head into November, we’re focused on continuing to deliver industry-leading recruitment solutions, strengthening relationships with our partners and helping more candidates secure rewarding opportunities across construction, engineering and the built environment.
