Outstanding Results from Our Construction Team’s Mental Health Initiative
What an incredible month it’s been! The entire Atkins Search team has been moving for mental health throughout August, demonstrating our commitment to supporting construction workers’ wellbeing and mental health across the UK.
Our impressive results:
Total distance covered: Over 400 miles moved collectively
10-Mile Group Winner (Lake District training preparation): Amy Hutchinson moved 67.75 miles! An outstanding mileage in preparation for our upcoming Lake District challenge
4-Mile Group Winner (Active participation category): Jessica Jones moved 72.4 miles! They demonstrated exceptional commitment to daily movement goals
Both winners have earned well-deserved vouchers, recognising their dedication to this crucial cause affecting construction professionals nationwide.
Why Construction Recruitment Agencies Must Address Mental Health
Every single step taken by our construction recruitment team has been in support of Tough to Talk and their vital work in suicide prevention. The statistics facing our construction industry are truly alarming:
- 10 men die by suicide daily in the UK
- 4 of these work in construction
- Construction workers are 3 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population
These devastating statistics represent lives that could be saved through open conversation, proper support and industry-wide awareness initiatives.
Lake District Challenge: Construction Recruiters Take on England’s Highest Peak
Now, we’re just 2 weeks away from our biggest challenge yet. On Saturday 13th September, the Atkins Search construction recruitment team will be tackling Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain at 978 metres, via the demanding Corridor Route.
Challenge details:
- 9.4-mile route through challenging Lake District terrain
- Over 3,000 feet of ascent testing our team’s endurance
- All in support of breaking the silence around male suicide in construction
