We are recruiting a Setting Out Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major works on the Sizewell C project in Suffolk. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a strong civil engineering background to join a high-performing team on a nationally significant project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting out, surveying and ensuring construction works are delivered accurately and in accordance with design specifications. You will support project delivery by providing technical expertise, maintaining quality standards and working closely with site management and subcontractors.

ROLE: Setting Out Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake setting out activities for earthworks, drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete and civil engineering structures.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Carry out surveys and checks to ensure works are being delivered to the required quality and tolerances.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, QA documentation and as-built information.
- Establish and verify control points using GPS, Total Stations and surveying equipment.
- Check levels, dimensions and positions of completed works.
- Monitor and report progress against the construction programme.
- Liaise with subcontractors, survey teams and site management to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Support senior engineers and project managers with planning and technical coordination.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across the project.
PERSON
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer, Site Engineer or Civil Engineer within infrastructure or construction projects.
- Proficient in the use of GPS, Leica, Trimble or equivalent surveying equipment.
- Experience working on major civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways or energy projects.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- CSCS Card required.
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
