Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor (NEC4 Specialist), you will play a key role in providing strategic commercial and contractual support across a diverse portfolio of projects across the North.
In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, managing NEC4 contracts, supporting delivery teams and driving successful commercial outcomes across sectors including nuclear, renewables, water and infrastructure.
You will be both on-site and remotely, engaging closely with contractors, subcontractors and stakeholders to resolve challenges, promote collaboration and ensure projects are delivered effectively.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Northeast, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing NEC4 contracts, including main and secondary options, and advising on contractual matters
- Preparing, reviewing and administrating contract documentation to ensure compliance and clarity
- Managing commercial aspects including defines cost, disallowed cost, fee and schedule of cost components
- Leading and assessing compensation events and supporting change management process
- Advising on programme impacts and revieing project programmes alongside planners and project managers
- Supporting early warning processes and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Providing strategic commercial advice to clients and project stakeholders
- Building strong working relationships with contractors, subcontractors and delivery teams
- Facilitating workshops and presentations on NEC and commercial best practice
- Supporting and mentoring team members while promoting collaborative, high-performing team behaviours
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation including health & safety, contractual obligations and dispute resolution processes
Person
To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor job in the Northeast, you will need to demonstrate:
- Experience working within a Quantity Surveying or commercial consultancy environment
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC4 preferred)
- Experience managing payment mechanisms, compensation events, programme and risk
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Engineering
- Ideally chartered or working towards RICS, CIOB, CICES or APM
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach aligned with NEC principles
- Leadership capability with the ability to influence and support project teams
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites across the North
- Flexibility to work away if required based on the client’s needs
