Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham to join an award-winning Construction Consultancy based in Birmingham with a strong portfolio across residential, healthcare, industrial, and commercial sectors. Client

My client provides a variety of Quantity Surveying & Project Management services to a range of national clients. Based in Central Birmingham, my client can offer an experienced Senior Cost Manager a diverse workload that is tailored to your preferences and the opportunity to become a truly integral part of their growing business.

You will have the option to work on exciting schemes across the Midlands with exposure to a variety of sectors including defence, healthcare, residential, retail, education, leisure, mixed-use developments, commercial, heritage and conservation, to name a few!

Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for leading from the front, directing client facing meetings, dealing with multi disciplined teams and end-to-end project delivery. This role will suit an experienced Senior Cost Manager based in Birmingham, or the wider West Midlands, who has experience working on a variety of projects within the built environment.

Responsibilities

As Senior Quantity Surveyor operating in their Birmingham office, you will be involved in projects from inception to completion, your responsibilities will include:

  • Large and/or complex project runner with responsibility for project cost control
  • Ensuring accurate provision of cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documents and reports
  • Carrying out audits/cost checks/reviews of construction contracts (NEC & JCT)
  • Liaising directly with Clients
  • Leading bid process and undertakes business development
  • Resources own jobs, undertakes team supervision and monitors internal costs
  • Managing less experienced staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Running Design Team meetings, reports on and gives advice on cost control matters

Person

To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role in Birmingham, you will bring extensive experience in quantity surveying and cos management from a consultancy background.

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or a related discipline
  • Chartered member of the RICS, or a commitment to achieving chartership within two years
  • Extensive experience running your own projects from a construction consultancy background
  • Proven ability to manage large projects independently and simultaneously
  • Experience managing and developing a team, with strong line management skills
  • Proficiency in measurement software, ideally CostX
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence
