Our client is a Chartered Quantity Surveying practice, offering a comprehensive range of construction consultancy services including quantity surveying, project management, employer's agent, insurance and claims surveying, and clerk of works across the UK.

Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Leicester, you'll take the lead on a range of complex construction projects whilst also managing and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors, Assistants, and Trainees. You'll act as the principal point of contact with clients and design team consultants, taking full ownership of QS and project management service delivery across your portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager from a consultancy background who is ready to step into a client-facing, team-leading role with autonomy and commercial responsibility.

Responsibilities

As Senior Quantity Surveyor in Leicester, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading end-to-end quantity surveying and cost management across a portfolio of construction projects simultaneously
  • Supervising, mentoring, and line managing a team of Quantity Surveyors, Assistants, and Trainees to help them fulfil their potential
  • Acting as the principal point of contact with project clients and design team consultants, delivering an exceptional standard of service
  • Managing key client accounts, nurturing long-term relationships and identifying new work opportunities
  • Acting as Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects and Contract Administrator on Traditional contracts
  • Overseeing procurement, contract administration, cost planning, and tender evaluations
  • Actively promoting the practice's services through networking, business development, and marketing events
  • Ensuring compliance with the company's Quality Environmental Management System across all projects
  • Undertaking a minimum of 20 hours CPD annually and supporting in-house training events

Person Specification

To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role in Leciester, you will bring extensive experience in quantity surveying and cost management from a consultancy background.

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or a related discipline
  • Chartered member of the RICS, or a commitment to achieving chartership within two years
  • Extensive experience running your own projects from a construction consultancy background
  • Proven ability to manage large projects independently and simultaneously
  • Experience managing and developing a team, with strong line management skills
  • Proficiency in measurement software, ideally CostX
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence
