Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor working in Nottingham, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Work and Tender Documents for construction projects in Nottingham and surrounding areas
  • Administering contracts, under limited supervision, including reviewing payment applications and issuing interim valuation certificates under JCT, NEC and other standard forms of contract
  • Demonstrating knowledge of different procurement routes: traditional, design and build, management contracting, etc.
  • Preparing accurate financial reports and cashflow forecasts for internal and client use
  • Managing change control procedures and variations for Nottinghamshire construction projects
  • Managing tender processes and advising on procurement strategies for cost-effective building solutions

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor employed by our client, your duties will include:

  • Lead the delivery of cost management services across a varied portfolio of construction projects
  • Manage pre- and post-contract duties including cost planning, tendering, procurement and final accounting
  • Provide clear, strategic cost advice and cost estimating to clients at all project stages
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender evaluations and contract administration under JCT and NEC contracts
  • Conduct cost planning and value engineering exercises to ensure projects remain within budget
  • Manage quantity takeoff, bills of quantities and cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Build, maintain and expand strong client and stakeholder relationships across the Midlands
  • Identify new opportunities and support work winning activity including tender response and bid writing
  • Develop and manage key accounts to secure repeat business and long-term client partnerships
  • Support, mentor and develop junior quantity surveying team members
  • Uphold professional standards and best practice in line with RICS guidance and RICS QS competencies

Person

The ideal candidate for this Senior Quantity Surveyor role in Nottingham will have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or a related field
  • Chartered status (MRICS) or commitment to achieving it within two years
  • Experience working for a Private Practice, Construction Consultancy, or similar organisation
  • Proficiency in CostX Measurement Software (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK
