Senior Estates Capital Project Manager

Atkins Search is currently recruiting for a Senior Estates Capital Project Manager to join a Leicester based public sector organisation, which gives you the opportunity to work on a healthcare capital programme worth an estimated £400million. This is a full time, ongoing contract role with a realistic potential of permanent employment in the future.

My client is a highly respected, complex public sector organisation delivering critical healthcare services to local, regional and national stakeholders. They are responsible for the planning, delivery and governance of diverse and technically challenging capital projects, estates and maintenance programmes.

You’ll be joining an experienced, multi-disciplinary capital projects team working closely with operational, estates and financial stakeholders, as well as construction main contractors and consultancies across the full project and programme lifecycle.

As a Senior Estates Capital Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering interesting programmes across three main sites in Leicester. This will require a hands-on approach throughout the whole project life cycle, ensuring all projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to requirements.

Your duties will include (but not limited to):

• Managing individual projects and workstreams within a wider capital programme valued at circa £400m
• Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality, safety and compliance standards
• Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams including consultants, contractors, internal estates teams and clinical stakeholders
• Managing and reporting on multi-million-pound budgets, forecasting, cost control and change management
• Implementing and maintaining robust risk, issue and governance processes throughout the project lifecycle
• Producing clear & concise reports for senior leadership teams
• Administering and managing construction contracts (JCT / NEC) and ensuring contractual compliance
• Overseeing site activities, health & safety compliance, quality control, commissioning and handover processes
• Building strong relationships with internal departments, external agencies, regulators and professional advisors
• Supporting team leadership, mentoring and line management responsibilities where required

To be successful in the Senior Estates Capital Project Manager position, the ideal person will bring:

• Construction related degree or post graduate qualification (or equivalent)
• Relevant professional building or engineering qualification (MCIOB, RICS, APM, RIBA, CIBSE, IHEEM, MIMechE, MIEE)
• Knowledge of the capital management processes, systems and documentation
• Proficient IT skills in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
• 5+ years experience as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, delivering multi-faceted, complex capital projects
• Experience of working across both public and private sector agencies
• In-depth understanding of construction contracts (NEC / JCT)
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites and manage priorities
• Strong understanding of construction project management across all RIBA stages
• Excellent knowledge of statutory legislation and compliance requirements
