We're recruiting a Quantity Surveyor in the East Midlands to join a market leading specialist in critical power solutions working in the Data Centre Sector across the UK. Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll lead cost control and commercial management from project inception through to completion. You'll manage contracts, subcontractor coordination, cash flow forecasting and ensure compliance with industry standards across critical power schemes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious cost planning professional or senior quantity surveyor to take ownership of commercial delivery on high-value, technically complex projects with national visibility.

You'll work closely with clients to assess feasibility, refine proposals and provide commercial support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring every scheme is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor in the East Midlands, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead cost control and project oversight from inception to completion across critical power installations
  • Collaborate with clients to assess feasibility, refine project proposals and manage commercial risk
  • Prepare accurate pre-tender assessments of material quantities, costs and resources
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration and commercial support throughout project delivery
  • Oversee application processes, cash flow forecasts, payment certificates and project documentation
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards across all commercial activities
  • Cultivate strong client and internal team relationships to ensure smooth project collaboration
  • Mentor colleagues, share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver timely and accurate cost reporting, valuations and final accounts

Person

To be successful in this Quantity Surveyor job in East Midlands, you will bring significant experience in cost management, contract administration and commercial delivery, ideally within mechanical, electrical or specialist contractor environments.

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Manager or Senior QS within construction or specialist contracting
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage contracts, subcontractors and project profitability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of cost planning, tender evaluation, contract administration and compliance processes
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable for site visits across the UK)

RICS accreditation, HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction, or a degree in Commercial Management are advantageous but not essential.
