OVERVIEW

Atkins Search have been appointed by a leading Construction Consultancy based in Birmingham to recruit an ambitious and experienced Project Manager to join their project management team.

ROLE

As a Project Manager in Birmingham, you’ll lead multiple construction and refurbishment projects from cradle to completion, managing all RIBA stages.

You’ll coordinate design teams, contractors and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on and varied role, perfect for a self-motivated professional who enjoys project autonomy, client engagement and on-site involvement across the Midlands.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Construction Project Manager in Birmingham, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing end-to-end delivery of capital works, fit-out and refurbishment projects across Birmingham and the wider Midlands
  • Coordinating design teams and consultants to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Overseeing RIBA stage management, procurement and tender processes
  • Liaising with clients, NHS Property Services and other stakeholders to maintain strong communication lines
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, health and safety standards and ISO 9001/45001 frameworks
  • Managing risk assessments, quality checks and budget forecasting
  • Using SharePoint and other digital project tools for documentation and project tracking

PERSON

To be successful in this Project Manager job in Birmingham, you’ll bring a proven track record in construction consultancy or main contractor environments.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience as a Construction Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager or Building Surveyor managing refurbishment schemes or M&E projects
  • Strong understanding of NEC and JCT contracts, cost management and construction delivery processes
  • Desire to progress professionally (APC support and structured career path provided)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proactive, self-motivated and adaptable
  • Good understanding of SharePoint or similar document management systems
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with public-sector projects (e.g. NHS, education, local authority)
  • Relevant qualifications such as RICS, degree in Construction Management or HNC/HND in Building Studies
  • Certifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, or NEBOSH are highly desirable
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for site travel across the Midlands)
