Role

As a Project Manager in Birmingham, you'll deliver multiple refurbishment and M&E projects across the Midlands region. Working closely with design teams, consultants, contractors and clients, you'll manage projects through all RIBA stages (0-7), acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes on every scheme.

Projects typically include emergency lighting upgrades, boiler replacements, roofing works, healthcare refurbishments and commercial fit-outs, with values ranging from £20k to £1m.

This is an excellent project leadership opportunity for an ambitious Construction Project Manager or Senior Project Manager seeking hands-on project management experience with exposure to varied, fast-paced construction schemes within a consultancy environment.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager in Birmingham, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage end-to-end construction project delivery from design development through to practical completion and handover.
  • Coordinate project planning, tendering processes and contract administration across multiple live schemes.
  • Lead coordination of consultants, contractors and client teams, ensuring stakeholder alignment and clear communication.
  • Conduct regular site visits to review progress, monitor quality standards and address any project challenges.
  • Oversee programme management and project scheduling to ensure construction projects meet deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Produce comprehensive project reports, progress updates, snag lists and completion documentation for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety standards and internal governance requirements.
  • Chair client meetings and project progress reviews, providing clear reporting on project milestones.
  • Support procurement activities and manage risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle.

Person

To be successful in this Project Manager job in Birmingham, you will bring demonstrable experience working within a construction consultancy or main contracting environment on refurbishment and M&E projects.

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, Construction Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within a construction consultancy or main contracting environment.
  • Strong background in refurbishment projects, M&E schemes, capital works or healthcare construction projects.
  • A construction, property or engineering-related degree (or equivalent experience in construction project management).
  • Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management abilities and leadership qualities to coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or similar document management systems for project administration.
  • Full UK driving licence essential for visiting sites across Birmingham and the Midlands region.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of RIBA stages and construction project lifecycle management.
  • Experience with healthcare, education or public sector refurbishment projects.
  • Ambition to progress within a structured career pathway with APC support provided for professional development.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations, NEC and JCT contracts.
