Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with senior members of the team, supporting the delivery of projects across the residential, commercial, and retail sectors.

Reporting directly to the Associate Directors and Senior Quantity Surveyors, you will assist with both pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services while gaining exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical and commercial skills within a supportive environment that actively encourages professional development.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting project delivery whilst benefiting from mentoring and guidance from experienced professionals. This position is ideal for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a consultancy environment and progress towards becoming a fully independent Quantity Surveyor.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Manchester, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the delivery of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services
  • Supporting the preparation of cost plans, estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies
  • Assisting with procurement exercises and tender evaluations
  • Preparing measurements and cost reports
  • Supporting contract administration and commercial management activities
  • Attending project meetings alongside senior members of the team
  • Assisting in the preparation of valuations and financial reports
  • Monitoring project costs and helping to identify potential risks
  • Supporting the preparation of client reports and project documentation
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and consultants under supervision
  • Contributing positively to the company culture and team environment
  • Actively working towards professional and career development objectives

Person

To be successful in this Assistant Quantity Surveyor role in Manchester, you will bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to build a long-term career within quantity surveying.

  • Degree qualified, or working towards a qualification, in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying role, either consultancy or contractor-side
  • Strong commercial awareness and an interest in developing technical quantity surveying skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ambitious, personable, and relationship-focused approach
  • Keen to learn from experienced professionals and take on increasing responsibility
  • Strong team player with the ability to fit into a close-knit environment
  • Looking for a long-term career move with genuine progression opportunities
  • High-rise residential experience beneficial but not essential
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Remuneration
