ROLE
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, you'll be a vital part of a collaborative team, supporting project delivery from start to finish. You will:
- Ensure robust cost control and accurate budget reporting
- Assist in delivering client satisfaction across the full construction project life cycle
- Work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors, Employers’ Agents and regional project teams on high-value schemes
The position allows exposure to a variety of projects and provides the opportunity to build on your technical skills with mentoring and structured development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your key responsibilities as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor will include:
- Assisting with cost planning, cost management, and feasibility studies
- Supporting value engineering and procurement strategies
- Preparing and evaluating tenders
- Monitoring budgets and producing financial reports
- Helping fulfil Employers’ Agent duties
- Conducting valuations, progress reports, and contract administration

PERSON
To succeed as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you should demonstrate:
- Experience delivering cost management services within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Progressing toward or holding MRICS chartership
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A proactive, client-focused mindset with attention to detail
