Senior Quantity Surveyor
Overview
Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking your next career opportunity with a growing and highly respected construction consultancy in the Northwest?
Atkins Search are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established multidisciplinary consultancy renowned for delivering high-quality cost management services across industrial, logistics, data centre and commercial developments. This permanent, full-time role offers the opportunity to lead projects from inception through to completion while working closely with major national and international clients.
Join a consultancy experiencing significant growth, with a secure project pipeline and a reputation for delivering large-scale developments across the UK and Ireland.
Client
My client is a modern and ambitious construction consultancy with a strong national presence and a growing multidisciplinary offering. Whilst the business now provides a range of consultancy services, Quantity Surveying remains at the heart of its success and continues to be a key driver of growth.
The consultancy has experienced substantial expansion over recent years whilst maintaining a collaborative, people-focused culture. They have successfully combined the opportunities typically associated with larger consultancies with the flexibility, visibility and accessibility often found in smaller businesses.
Career progression is genuinely merit-based, with employees rewarded for performance and contribution rather than time served. The leadership team remains highly accessible and actively involved in supporting the growth and development of the business.
Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of projects across the industrial, logistics and data centre sectors, managing schemes from inception through to completion without the traditional pre- and post-contract split often found within larger consultancies.
You will work closely with major clients, contractors and consultants, providing strategic commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle. The role combines technical quantity surveying expertise with a strong client-facing element, making it ideal for an individual who enjoys building relationships, influencing stakeholders and becoming a trusted advisor.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a significant volume of live projects while developing your career within a consultancy that offers genuine progression opportunities and long-term stability.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services across industrial, logistics and data centre projects.
- Prepare cost plans, feasibility studies, budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reporting.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to clients throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement processes, tender evaluations and contract administration.
- Administer JCT contracts and manage variations, change control and final accounts.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and commercial support.
- Support and mentor Graduate, Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the team.
- Manage commercial risk and ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets.
- Contribute towards business growth through exceptional client service and proactive relationship management.
Person
To be successful as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will align with our requirements and bring:
- A proven track record operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical quantity surveying fundamentals across both pre- and post-contract services.
- Excellent working knowledge of JCT contracts and construction procurement routes.
- The ability to independently manage projects and maintain strong client relationships.
- Experience delivering industrial, logistics, data centre, commercial or similarly complex construction projects would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and client-focused approach with the confidence to challenge, influence and provide strategic commercial advice.
- Chartered status or progression towards MRICS would be welcomed but is not essential.
- A genuine desire to contribute to a collaborative and growing consultancy environment.
Remuneration
This represents an outstanding opportunity to join a rapidly growing consultancy with a substantial pipeline of projects secured for the coming years.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will benefit from significant project exposure, direct access to senior leadership and genuine career progression opportunities within a business that actively promotes from within.
