MEP Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Are you an MEP Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your consultancy career with a growing and highly respected construction consultancy?

Atkins Search are recruiting an MEP Quantity Surveyor to join an established multidisciplinary consultancy renowned for delivering cost management services across complex industrial, logistics, data centre and commercial developments. This permanent, full-time opportunity will see you working on technically challenging projects whilst developing specialist expertise within the building services sector.

Join a consultancy with a strong pipeline of major projects, long-standing client relationships and a reputation for delivering high-quality commercial advice across the full project lifecycle.

Client

Our client is an established construction consultancy with a growing national presence and a reputation for technical excellence. Over recent years, the business has experienced significant growth whilst maintaining the collaborative culture and approachable leadership team that have been central to its success.

The business works across multiple service lines, however cost management remains one of its core disciplines. Employees are given genuine responsibility from an early stage and are encouraged to take ownership of projects, client relationships and their own professional development.

With a flat structure and strong emphasis on progression based on merit, this is an environment where individuals are recognised and rewarded for their contribution rather than simply their length of service.

Role

As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will provide specialist cost management services across the mechanical, electrical and public health elements of major construction projects. Working alongside wider project teams, you will support projects from feasibility stages through to final account, ensuring robust commercial control throughout.

The majority of your workload will be focused on large-scale industrial, logistics and data centre developments, although there will also be opportunities to gain exposure to projects across a range of other sectors.

This role offers a unique opportunity to become involved in highly technical projects while working closely with clients, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

As an MEP Quantity Surveyor in the Northwest, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist MEP cost management services across a portfolio of construction projects.
  • Preparing cost plans, feasibility studies, estimates and benchmarking reports for mechanical and electrical packages.
  • Managing procurement processes and supporting tender evaluations for MEP works.
  • Administering contracts and managing change control, variations and financial reporting.
  • Reviewing contractor submissions and assessing the commercial implications of design developments.
  • Supporting value engineering exercises and identifying opportunities to achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, contractors and wider consultant teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Producing accurate cost reports and forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted commercial advisor.
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the MEP and wider cost management teams.

Person

To be successful as an MEP Quantity Surveyor in the Northwest, you will align with our requirements and bring:

  • Experience working as an MEP Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or contractor environment.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems and associated cost management principles.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, contract administration and commercial management processes.
  • Experience working with JCT contracts and construction procurement routes.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to confidently engage with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • MRICS status or progression towards chartership would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to build a long-term career within a growing consultancy.

Remuneration

This represents an excellent opportunity to join a growing consultancy delivering some of the UK's most technically challenging developments.

As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will benefit from exposure to major projects, direct client interaction and a structured progression pathway within an expanding team.
