Role

As a Construction Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be involved in working across a wide variety of large, exciting construction projects across both public and private sectors. Due to continued growth and business development, our client is actively recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in their Birmingham office.

This Quantity Surveyor position offers exposure to all aspects of cost management within a supportive construction consultancy environment, with opportunities to work on prestigious construction projects throughout Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cost planning and cost estimation for construction projects across Birmingham and the West Midlands
  • Cost management and budget management throughout project lifecycles
  • Value engineering assessments to optimise construction costs
  • Tender management and tender evaluation for construction contracts
  • Financial reporting and cost reporting for clients and stakeholders
  • Budget management and cost control on active construction projects
  • Employers’ agent duties and contract administration
  • Valuations and interim valuations for construction work
  • Commercial management of construction contracts and procurement processes
  • Risk management and cost risk assessments for construction projects

Person

To succeed in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role, the ideal person must be able to portray the following:

  • Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of cost management services and quantity surveying experience
  • MRICS chartered or working towards RICS chartership
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts
  • Experience with cost planning, tender management and value engineering
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with clients and construction teams
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards and procurement processes
  • Desire and motivation to succeed in a quantity surveying career in Birmingham
  • Understanding of commercial management and contract administration
