Our client is an established Chartered Quantity Surveying consultancy providing a comprehensive range of construction consultancy services across the residential, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, conservation, and commercial sectors. ROLE
As Associate Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key leadership role within the business, working closely with the Directors as part of the Senior Management Team to support the continued growth and success of the consultancy. You will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors, Assistants, and Apprentices whilst taking responsibility for the successful delivery of major construction projects across a range of sectors.
Alongside project delivery, you will contribute to business development initiatives, client relationship management, staff development, and wider strategic business objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Associate Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, your responsibilities will include:
- Working alongside the Directors as part of the Senior Management Team to support business performance and growth
- Attending management meetings and contributing to strategic business initiatives
- Supporting business development, marketing, networking, quality management, training, and operational improvement activities
- Setting team objectives and ensuring successful delivery against performance targets
- Acting as Line Manager for Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors, and Apprentices
- Supporting the development, mentoring, and progression of team members
- Managing key client accounts and building long-term client relationships
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities across existing and prospective clients
- Leading the delivery of multiple construction projects across a variety of sectors
- Managing project resources and workload allocation across your team
- Acting as the principal point of contact for clients and professional consultant teams
- Delivering Quantity Surveying and Project Management services from inception through to completion
- Acting as Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects where required
- Reviewing project quality, efficiency, and delivery standards across the team
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining excellent client service
- Delivering presentations, internal training sessions, and CPD activities
- Promoting consultancy services through networking events and industry engagement
- Ensuring compliance with company quality management procedures and industry standards
PERSON
To be successful in this Associate Quantity Surveyor role in Birmingham, you will bring a strong technical background, leadership capability and commercial awareness.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or a related discipline
- Chartered MRICS status preferred, or committed to achieving Chartership within 2 years
- Minimum 7 years' experience delivering Quantity Surveying and/or Project Management services
- Experience working within private practice, consultancy, contractor, or related construction environments
- Proven experience managing projects independently from inception to completion
- Experience leading and developing teams
- Strong business development, networking, and client relationship management skills
- Experience managing key client accounts and identifying new opportunities
- Proficiency in measurement and cost management software, ideally CostX
- Experience delivering large-scale and complex construction projects
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project locations across the UK as required
REMUNERATION
