Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing a varied workload, client facing meetings, collaborating with multi disciplined teams and end-to-end project delivery. This role will suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Cambridge, or the wider East of England region, who has experience working on a variety of projects within the built environment.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead quantity surveying services across preconstruction and post-contract stages
  • Prepare comprehensive cost plans for complex construction schemes
  • Manage procurement strategies and tender documentation
  • Provide commercial advice and risk management
  • Oversee contract administration and monthly valuations
  • Negotiate and settle final accounts with contractors and supply chains
  • Lead client meetings and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Mentor and develop assistant and trainee quantity surveyors within the Birmingham team
  • Ensure compliance with RICS standards and contract terms
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management
  • Support APC candidates working towards RICS chartership
  • Collaborate with project managers, building surveyors and wider consultancy teams across multidisciplinary projects

Person

To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor position in Cambridge, you will be significant experience working within a construction consultancy environment and be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related built environment discipline
  • Strong preconstruction and post-contract knowledge
  • Proven commercial management capability with varied sector expertise
  • Prior consultancy experience working within a professional practice environment
  • MRICS qualified or working towards RICS chartership (desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of JCT, NEC and other standard contracts
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills with a professional and confident manner
  • Competency with cost management software, procurement systems and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence beneficial for West Midlands visits
  • Professional, confident manner with business development acumen

Remuneration
