Senior Estimator

Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator on behalf of a well-established respected main contractor based in Leicester. This is a senior-level opportunity to join a growing pre-construction team and take a lead role in pricing and securing varied, high-quality construction projects across the East Midlands.

As a Senior Estimator you’ll take a lead role in managing tenders, preparing cost plans and supporting the pre-construction strategy across a range of traditional and design & build schemes. You’ll have visibility across all stages of the bid process and contribute to strategic decision-making on key opportunities.

This is an ideal role for an experienced Estimator looking to take the next step, or a current Senior Estimator seeking more autonomy and influence in a regional delivery-focused business.

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
• Develop cost plans and budget estimates at pre-construction stage
• Analyse drawings specifications and employer requirements
• Manage and liaise with subcontractors and supply chain partners for pricing
• Conduct risk analysis and value engineering assessments
• Contribute to bid strategy ensuring commercially competitive and compliant submissions
• Attend pre-tender meetings site visits and client briefings
• Assist with handover to operations teams post-award
• Mentor junior members of the estimating team where appropriate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Estimator or an established Estimator ready to step up. You’ll have a solid background working for a main contractor ideally on projects between £2m–£40m in value.

Requirements:

• 5+ years' estimating experience with a construction main contractor
• Proven track record of managing full tender lifecycle
• Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
• Experience working with JCT and/or D&B contracts
• Confident communicator able to liaise with clients supply chain and internal stakeholders
• Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving abilities
• Based within commuting distance to Leicester
