Senior Design Manager

Atkins Search are currently looking to recruit a Senior Design Manager to join a successful, family-owned construction main contractor based in Rugby.

Role

The function of the Senior Design Manager role will be to lead the design process, promote integration of disciplines and select, manage and appoint consultants to ensure that they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services.

You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on design programmes, and also provide technical support to the bid process. In addition you will be developing designs that utilise innovative techniques on multiple projects.
You will also be responsible for supporting the Region Design Lead and assistant junior members of the Design team to help develop their career.

Duties

  • Use of CAD and Microsoft Office
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and technical specifications
  • Management of specialist designers and managing others in your team
  • Navigating design package software
  • Manage the development and implementation of design proposals ensuring they meet client requirements
  • Supporting Design Lead
  • Supporting junior memembers of the Design Team
  • Manage and ensure effective briefing of the Design Team
  • Provide advice and guidance on the design proposals to the construction teams on all packages.
  • Lead the development and management of the design deliverables programme

  • Experience of JCT/ NEC forms of contract
