Atkins Search are currently working in partnership to support a Mechanical and Electrical Division of the Group in Sheffield who’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work on a across a diverse range of sectors including Mechanical & Electrical, Facilities Management, Cleaning & Hygiene + Security, and Renewables & Decarbonisation

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working onsite in Sheffield across a people focused business that was established over 80 years ago.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Sheffield you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

• Oversee the financial and contractual performance of M&E projects from award through to completion.
• Take ownership of project budgets, ensuring costs, cash flow and commercial targets are effectively managed.
• Lead the procurement and commercial administration of subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Prepare and manage valuations, payment applications and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and agree subcontractor accounts, ensuring accurate assessment of works completed.
• Monitor project performance, providing regular forecasting and commercial insight to key stakeholders.
• Manage contract changes, variations and commercial negotiations to protect project value.
• Support the agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities for project profitability.
• Provide commercial guidance to project teams, helping to drive successful project outcomes.
• Assist with procurement strategies, tender support and the preparation of commercial documentation.
• Maintain robust commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Monitor labour, material, plant and subcontract expenditure to ensure effective cost control.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and the wider supply chain.
• Work closely with operational and pre-construction teams to support efficient project delivery.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of commercial processes and best practices.

The successful candidate for the Senior Quantity Surveying role will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Mechanical & Electrical or Building Services industry.

• Strong understanding of commercial management principles across construction projects.

• Experience administering JCT and NEC forms of contract.

• Proven experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial negotiations.

• Excellent knowledge of cost reporting, forecasting and financial management.

• Experience preparing applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.

• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify project risks and opportunities.

• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

• Full UK Driving Licence.
