Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee a £12m project based at the University of Manchester, delivering a major recladding and refurbishment scheme.

CLIENT

The project is working for a Tier 2 main contractor and the project is located at the University of Manchester and involves a large scale Building Safety Act (BSA) compliant scheme.

The works include the removal and replacement of the existing external cladding system across all elevations, upgrading insulation to exceed current standards, replacing the external brickwork façade, and renewing the roof coverings. The project also includes internal bathroom refurbishment works.

ROLE

We are seeking a Construction Project Manager to take full responsibility for the delivery of this project. You will lead the site team and manage all aspects of the build, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while reporting into senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all on-site operations to ensure delivery against programme and budget
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to meet key milestones
  • Enforcing and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Conducting regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits
  • Managing and leading site teams, subcontractors, and labour resources
  • Delivering daily briefings and ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders
  • Ensuring all works meet design specifications, building regulations, and quality standards
  • Carrying out quality checks and managing defects effectively
  • Acting as the main on-site point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Providing regular progress updates and resolving any project issues
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation including BSA records, site diaries, and reports
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual and company requirements

PERSON

  • Proven experience delivering construction projects in the £8m–£12m range
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage programmes, budgets, and site teams effectively
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to drive projects safely and efficiently to completion
