Their diverse portfolio spans commercial construction, education, leisure and healthcare construction projects, combining traditional delivery methods with modern project controls and sustainability frameworks. Following years of consistent growth, they are expanding their contracts management team and seeking an experienced construction project manager to lead their contract delivery programme.
Role
Operating as the Project Manager, you will initially lead a large-scale construction scheme in Norwich valued between £1m and £45m over a limited period, requiring lodging accommodation (fully covered by the company). Following successful project completion, you'll transition to leading high value builds across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands region.
As a construction project manager, you'll be supported by site delivery teams to ensure quality standards and programme milestones are. This is an excellent project management construction opportunity for an ambitious professional ready to step into a strategic role.
The initial phase of this position requires you to be lodging away in Norwich throughout the week. Once this project has been completed, you will be working on projects within the East Midlands region. You'll be working under NEC and JCT contracts with the tools and authority to lead stakeholder engagement and on-site delivery.
Responsibilities
As a Project Manager in Nottingham, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage end-to-end construction project delivery across varied schemes
- Work in conjunction with the site team, ensuring accurate construction whilst maintaining quality and progress
- Provide sound advice, guidance and support to the project team throughout pre-construction and construction phases
- Produce and manage detailed programme of works
- Monitor all site health and safety procedures and compliance by all site personnel in line with CDM 2015 regulations
- Liaise with the supply chain team to ensure compliance
- Ensure quality of workmanship meets company expectations
- Deliver projects to agreed programme of works with proactive risk management
- Monitor programme of works, identify shortfalls and implement solutions
- Chair client and stakeholder meetings, ensuring clear communication
Person
To be successful in this construction project manager job in Nottingham, you will bring significant experience working within a main contracting construction environment, ideally for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager or similar project leadership role delivering schemes valued at £10m to £20m+
- Must be based in the East Midlands (Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire or Lincolnshire) with willingness to lodge in Norwich for initial project phase
- Experience delivering a mixture of projects including refurbishment, fit-out and new build construction
- Strong communication skills
- People management and delegation skills
- Good understanding of building regulations, local authority agreements and planning requirements
- Methodical, professional and collaborative approach to project management in construction
- Ability to organise workload
- SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid and Temporary Works certifications
- Knowledge of contract conditions (NEC, JCT) and construction law
- Sound commercial awareness with a commitment to health and safety and risk management
Highly Desirable:
- NEBOSH certification or degree in Construction Management
- Experience working with main contractors on public sector frameworks
