Role
As a Planner in Northampton, you'll be responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining construction programmes to ensure projects are delivered on time and efficiently. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and commercial teams to ensure accurate planning and reporting across all project phases.
Working across both office and site environments, you’ll play a key role in project coordination, risk identification, and programme optimisation.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as a Planner will include:
- Develop detailed construction programmes using industry-standard planning software
- Monitor project progress against programme and identify any delays or risks
- Work closely with project teams to update and revise programmes as required
- Support pre-construction planning, including input into tender programmes and methodologies
- Analyse project data and provide regular progress reports to senior management and clients
- Identify critical path activities and advise on mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with site teams to ensure alignment between programme and on-site activities
- Assist in resource planning and logistics scheduling
- Provide programme input into project meetings and stakeholder updates
- Support the implementation of best practices in planning and project controls
Person
To succeed in this Planner job, you’ll bring strong analytical skills and experience in construction planning, with the ability to manage and interpret complex project programmes.
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Planner or Assistant Planner within the construction industry
- Experience working on projects valued between £5 million and £20 million
- Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject
- Ability to pass SC Clearance
- Strong understanding of construction processes and project sequencing
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Desirable:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Professional membership (APM, CIOB or similar) or working towards
- Experience in healthcare, education, or commercial construction sectors
- Knowledge of risk management and project controls methodologies
