Overview

Atkins Search are currently working with a highly reputable, Tier 1 construction main contractor to recruit a Planner to join their team.

Client

Our client is an established, privately owned, cash rich, main contractor with nearly a century of experience in the UK construction industry. Operating through a network of regional offices, the company delivers a wide range of projects across commercial, education, industrial, and public sectors. It has a strong reputation for high-quality delivery, client collaboration, and long-standing partnerships.

The company regularly works on schemes valued between £10M–£150M, including sustainable office builds, educational campuses, and complex regeneration projects.

Role

This role will focus on providing tender and delivery planning expertise for projects across the Midlands and North, with occasional travel. You’ll report the Regional Planner who leads the division across all regions, working closely with project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fully integrated project programmes, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages
  • Produce tender programmes and support bids, ensuring competitive and accurate project plans
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Create and manage logistics plans, phasing plans, and detailed site sequences
  • Prepare and present progress reports for clients and senior management, using tools such as critical path analysis and key performance indicators
  • Ensure all planning aligns with NEC contract requirements and company standards
  • Collaborate with bid and delivery teams to maintain high-quality project execution

Person

  • Proven experience in both tender and delivery planning within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and experience in build projects (civils background with design and build experience considered)
  • Proficiency in planning software, including Asta Powerproject, MS Project, and Primavera P6
  • Knowledge of MOD, MOJ, education, and public/private sector projects is desirable
  • Ability to work on-site and in the office as needed
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
