Operations Manager

Atkins Search are delighted to be exclusively representing a forward-thinking civil and structural surveying business as they look to appoint an Operations Manager to lead their Inspections & Investigations team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business at a pivotal stage, with a strong pipeline of secured frameworks across the UK, primarily within highways and rail infrastructure, with additional work in broader civil assets.

Client

Our client is a well-established specialist business delivering expert services across inspections, structural testing, asset management and investigations across rail, highways and wider civil engineering sectors.

Joining the business at a pivotal time; the business is on track to have tripled their turnover in just a few years and have further growth plans with the utilisation of AI and data analytics. Despite the growth, they have managed to maintain their family feel and focus on internal development and progression.

You’ll be the master of your own destiny in the business, with full autonomy, with as much support as required. The business will set you on a growth trajectory which aligns with the criteria to achieve your bonus, so you will literally be incentivised to grow!

Role

As Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the planning, delivery, and quality assurance of structural inspections across the UK. You'll lead a close-knit team of engineers and inspectors, coordinate national projects, and act as a key interface between technical teams and client stakeholders.

This is a hybrid position, offering a mix of site, office, and home working. You’ll be based from their HQ in Derby, with the opportunity to visit the other offices when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of six structural inspection specialists
  • Allocate resources and plan team activity across multiple frameworks
  • Review technical reports and ensure quality standards are met
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to define project requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful delivery

Person

  • Ideally from a structural examination background
  • Minimum of STE4 level qualification
  • Excellent communicator – able to maintain and build relationship whilst working remotely
  • Proven leadership background
  • Full UK drivers’ licence

Remuneration

  • Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
  • Company vehicle
  • Salary sacrifice pension at 6% matched and payable into private pension
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on personal and business performance
  • 25 days annual leave with an additional day for every year with the business up to 5 years
  • AXA Private Medical Insurance
