Atkins Search are currently looking to recruit a well-rounded and diligent
Health, Safety and Environmental Manager on behalf of a
respected, region-leading construction main contractor based in Derby.
Health, Safety and Environmental Advisers
will also be considered for this position.

Client

Our client is a longstanding construction main contractor with an enviable reputation for delivering framework lead projects across the East Midlands, working with a select group of clients and developers on tendered and negotiated projects. Operating in both the public and private sectors, our client has a steady flow of tenders and are focused on quality not quantity.

Role

Operating as the Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor/Manager, you will be tasked with ensuring H&S standards and best practice is adhered to, delivering an effective Health and Safety culture across the business and construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Attend HSE meeting to improve effectiveness of systems and policies in place.
  • Updating and improving company Health and Safety policies and documentation, Producing Construction Health and Safety Plans and associated supporting documentation, maintain records, registers and data as required.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near miss events to identify and share lessons learned.
  • Lead site health and safety and HSE audits.
  • Carry out accident and incident investigations and provide detailed reports.
  • Assist Preconstruction department where required.
  • Attend HSE meeting to improve effectiveness of systems and policies in place.

Person

  • You will be a seasoned and qualified Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
    or Manager, with experience working for a construction main contractor.
  • Have a technical appreciation of health and safety legislation and keep up to date with legislative changes, be NEBOSH certified, and hold a Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Experience
    in carrying out building site inspections and investigating associated accidents and incidents.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to deliver key safety messages, have good problem-solving skills and strong Microsoft office skills.
  • Self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to work under pressure accurately on an independent basis always giving attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and work ethic with the ability to develop ongoing relationships.
