Role

As an Associate Director Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of major industrial and logistics projects, taking responsibility for project leadership from inception through to completion. You’ll play a key role in work winning, supporting business development and client relationship management, while also leading project delivery across multiple schemes.

As a senior project manager in the team, you’ll provide mentorship and leadership, helping to develop capability and maintain the company’s reputation for technical excellence and client service.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Director Project Manager operating in their Manchester office, you will be involved in projects from inception to completion, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the delivery of large-scale industrial and logistics construction projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Manage project teams and oversee all aspects of project planning, cost planning, design, procurement, and delivery.
  • Act as the primary client interface, ensuring strong communication and long-term relationship management.
  • Manage JCT contract delivery, coordinate with supply chain and subcontractor teams.
  • Oversee project budgets, programmes, and risk management to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support work winning activities, including bid preparation, proposals, and client presentations.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management for junior and mid-level project managers.
  • Ensure projects meet compliance with CDM 2015 and H&S regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal cost consultancy and design teams to provide integrated project solutions.
  • Report on project progress, commercial performance, and client satisfaction to senior leadership.
  • Contribute to business strategy, resource planning, and operational improvements within the project management division.

Person

To be successful in this Associate Director Project Manager job in Manchester, you will bring significant experience working within a consultancy environment and a clear passion for project management.

  • Proven experience in industrial and logistics construction projects – essential.
  • Relevant construction related degree.
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, APM, or CIOB would be beneficial.
  • Delivery-focused, with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor, manage, and develop project teams.
  • Ambitious, forward-thinking, and motivated to build a personal brand and network within the sector.
  • Strong commercial awareness and practical, solution-oriented approach.
  • Comfortable onsite presence when required, balancing management, client engagement, and project oversight.
  • Team player who can push the project management function forward while fostering collaboration.
  • Self-starter and go-getter mindset, able to hit the ground running and contribute from day one.
  • Open to taking on work-winning and client development responsibilities.
