August has been a month of growth, development, and meaningful action at Atkins Search. From professional development initiatives to charity fundraising, here’s what’s been happening at one of the East Midlands’ leading construction recruitment agencies.
Professional Development and Team Growth
This month, Alex Edwards took the lead in delivering a Business Development training session for the team, sharing valuable techniques and insights on effective client communication. This internal knowledge sharing demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in construction recruitment services.
End of Quarter Celebrations
To celebrate our Employee of the Quarter, Nicole Broughton organised a memorable bar crawl around Nottingham city centre. The team enjoyed a fantastic evening together, playing arcade games and enjoying fun quizzes and games Nicole organised. These social events are vital for maintaining our strong company culture and our team values.
Tough To Talk Fundraising – August Move Challenge
Our entire team participated in the August Move Challenge, collectively walking, running and galloping to raise funds for Tough To Talk. As a construction recruitment agency, we’re passionate about supporting mental health initiatives in the construction industry, which loses 4 men a day to suicide in England alone.
Every team member contributed to this meaningful cause, combining movement with fundraising. The challenge aims to raise vital funds and increase awareness about men’s mental health issues in the UK and within our industry.
Welcoming New Talent
We’ve expanded our consultancy team with Amy Hutchinson joining as Senior Recruitment Consultant, working closely alongside Olivia Hartley and Laura Belcher. Amy specialises in placing Construction professionals such as Project Managers. Quantity Surveyors and Building Surveyors, within the North West and North of the UK including Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Leeds, Huddersfield and Newcastle.
The addition of Amy strengthens our ability to place top-tier talent in construction jobs across the North West region.
Strengthening Client Relationships
August saw important client meetings across our key regions – Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds. These face-to-face meetings are essential for understanding our clients’ evolving needs and ensuring we continue to provide exceptional construction recruitment services.
Our presence across these major cities reinforces our commitment to serving construction professionals and employers throughout the East Midlands, West Midlands, North West and Yorkshire regions.
Construction Team Lunch
The construction team, Antony Rowe, Ashleigh Curwood and Alex Edwards, enjoyed a team lunch together at the Corn Mill near our office in Beeston. The team celebrated recent placement successes and discussing future opportunities in the sector to help both our clients and candidates.
Summer Work Experience in Business Administration
This summer, we welcomed Alex Rowe to gain hands-on work experience in business administration during his summer break at university. Alex worked closely with Lily-Grace Cooper, supporting day-to-day operations and developing key skills for a future career in business. A big thank you to Alex for all your hard work and valuable contribution over the summer, and good luck for your second year!
Childhood Fuddle
Nicole Broughton organised our most nostalgic fuddle yet – a childhood-themed meal where everyone brought their favourite childhood dishes.
From fish fingers and chips to beans on toast, the team enjoyed a delicious trip down memory lane. These informal gatherings strengthen our team bonds and contribute to the positive culture that benefits both our consultants and the service we provide to clients and candidates.
August Monthly Valued Player
Congratulations to our August MVP, Olivia Hartley! Olivia has been outstanding this month, (what she did). Olivia has shown incredible dedication this month, going above and beyond to support her clients in North Yorkshire. She’s worked tirelessly to deliver for clients and candidates, demonstrating commitment and winning herself an expensed meal of her choosing with a colleague. Celebrating talent in this way not only recognises achievement but also drives performance and retention, especially in fast-paced sectors such as construction recruitment in Nottingham.
