Site Manager
Overview
Atkins Search are recruiting for a Site Manager on behalf of our client, who are a successful Civil Engineering and Construction contractor based in Derby.
Client
Our client is an established, privately owned contractor with over 40 years’ experience in the industry delivering a variety of exciting Civil Engineering and Construction schemes across the UK.
Role
In this role you will be responsible for all engineering aspects on site, managing direct labour and subcontractors, coordinating all site activities, as well as ensuring projects are delivered safely, within budget and to specified quality.
As they are a nationally operating business, successful candidates will be required to lodge away from home during the working week for some projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage labour, plant, transport, and equipment on site, ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe and legal manner and in accordance with the project plan.
- Carry out effective Toolbox Talks, briefings, and risk assessments to ensure teams are aware of the work requirements and associated risks.
- Direct teams in the construction of the works, monitoring the allocation of labour to ensure that the tasks they carry out are within their level of skill and experience and that the correct tools and equipment are being always utilised.
- Ensure all company vehicle, plant and items of equipment are operated and maintained in accordance with procedures.
- Complete all necessary documents and paperwork.
- Ensure the health and safety of all persons in site and that site activities do not cause adverse environmental impact.
- Investigate all relevant site incidents and accidents to a suitable level to ascertain the direct and underlying causes and necessary action to prevent re-occurrences.
- Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. Including subcontract labour.
Person
- Experience in a Site Manager position who can take responsibility for all aspects of engineering for the construction of works on site.
- Confident communicator at all levels.
- Previous experience of Power T & D, battery storage, anaerobic digestion and renewable energy projects would be an advantage but not essential for the right person.
- Comfortable with working on sites across the UK and lodging away in the week.
