This Site Engineer role based in Burnley is an excellent opportunity to join an established delivery team and play a key role in delivering exciting projects from inception through to completion across the North West.

Client

Our client is a reputable Tier 2 construction main contractor with a proven track record in delivering complex schemes, including schools, office spaces, supermarkets, and industrial builds up to £25m in value.

With a strong reputation for quality, collaboration, and integrity, they pride themselves on building lasting relationships with clients and partners while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are now seeking an experienced Site Engineer in Burnley and the North West region to strengthen their delivery team and support ongoing success across the region.

Role

As Site Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of construction projects, supporting site management teams with technical expertise, quality assurance, setting out, and site coordination activities.

You will be responsible for ensuring works are carried out in accordance with design specifications, programme requirements, and health & safety standards. Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors, and consultants, you will help drive efficient project delivery from initial groundworks through to final handover.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the Site Engineer include:

  • Carry out setting out and surveying duties across a variety of construction projects
  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trades to ensure smooth site operations
  • Review technical drawings and raise any design or buildability concerns
  • Monitor site quality and ensure all works meet required standards
  • Complete and maintain accurate site records, reports, and as-built information
  • Assist in the preparation and management of short-term programmes and work schedules
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with daily site operations
  • Conduct quality inspections and manage snagging activities
  • Liaise with consultants, designers, and client representatives as required
  • Ensure material deliveries and construction activities are coordinated efficiently
  • Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on site
  • Carry out site measurements and assist with progress reporting
  • Support commissioning and handover activities
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry regulations, and project requirements

Person

To be successful in this Site Engineer role in Burnley and the North West, candidates should ideally have:

  • Proven experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry
  • Experience delivering commercial, education, industrial, retail, or mixed-use construction projects
  • Strong setting out, surveying, and quality assurance experience
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design information
  • Good understanding of construction methods and sequencing across a variety of building projects
  • Experience using surveying equipment including Total Stations and GPS equipment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • HNC, HND, or Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • SMSTS, SSSTS, or CSCS certification
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality projects

Remuneration
