My client is a well-established Chartered Surveying Consultancy, offering a comprehensive range of services across Project Management, Quantity Surveying, and Building Surveying, delivering high-quality advice and solutions for their clients. Their expertise spans a wide variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, hotels, industrial & logistics, education, and student accommodation to name a few.

Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Manchester, you will manage projects from inception to completion, delivering pre and post contract services, cost planning, tendering, and contract administration, working closely with clients, contractors, and project teams. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, contribute to high-profile developments, and support junior team members in a collaborative, professional environment.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Manchester, your role will include:

  • Deliver full pre and post contract quantity surveying services across a range of projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
  • Manage tendering processes and provide procurement advice.
  • Administer and manage JCT contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
  • Carry out valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts.
  • Support project management and client teams with financial and contractual advice.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to dispute resolution and risk management processes when required.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team while taking ownership of responsibilities where appropriate.

Person

To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role in Manchester, you will bring significant experience working for a consultancy. Key requirements you should have are:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline.
  • MRICS Chartered Surveyor (or actively working towards chartership).
  • Proven experience in similar sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Able to operate both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to interrogate costs and provide clear advice.
  • Organised, self-sufficient, and able to manage priorities effectively.
