Based between construction sites across the Midlands and the Nottingham headquarters, you'll take responsibility for the commercial delivery of major construction projects ranging from £10m to £50m across diverse sectors.

Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will support commercial management of large-scale construction projects, working alongside Assistant and Quantity Surveyors. This quantity surveyor position involves commercial oversight of high-value, complex construction schemes from inception to completion, ensuring cost control and contractual compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as key liaison points for Regional Director/Manager and Commercial Manager, implementing strategic instructions and providing regular project updates
  • Ensure prompt submission of comprehensive data supporting monthly and quarterly contract performance reviews for major construction schemes
  • Collaborate daily with Contracts Managers supporting commercial project management whilst ensuring financial targets are consistently achieved
  • Prepare and thoroughly review draft sub-contracts, ensuring complete accuracy and full contractual compliance using quantity surveyor expertise
  • Supervise, mentor and develop junior commercial team members, providing senior quantity surveyor guidance and professional development
  • Work alongside contract managers issuing all necessary contractual notices and submissions under various construction contract terms
  • Ensure payment applications incorporate all relevant variations and claims, assisting with comprehensive final account preparation using quantity surveyor skills
  • Support Contracts Managers monitoring sub-contractor performance ensuring timely, cost-effective project delivery across construction sites
  • Manage regular submission of main contract payment applications and assist with prompt cash collection processes
  • Prepare accurate sub-contractor payments aligned with agreed contractual terms and conditions
  • Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution processes using senior quantity surveyor commercial expertise
  • Lead commercial meetings and represent the team when required

Person

  • Extensive experience delivering major Design & Build construction projects as a senior quantity surveyor is essential
  • Proven track record working with established UK construction main contractors in commercial management roles
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comprehensive experience across various construction sectors and large-scale projects (£10m-£50m value)
  • Relevant construction industry qualification, preferably RICS membership or equivalent recognised professional institution
  • Strong commercial acumen suitable for senior quantity surveyor roles
  • Ability to work effectively across Nottingham and Midlands construction sites

  • Competitive salary up to £75,000 (dependent on senior quantity surveyor experience and qualifications)
