Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's dynamic construction consultancy in Leicester. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including residential, healthcare, commercial, and public sector developments. Based in Leicestershire, you will play a pivotal role in cost management, client engagement, and project delivery across the UK. The position is ideally suited to an experienced MRICS-qualified Quantity Surveyor or someone actively working toward chartership, looking to develop their career within a collaborative and professional environment.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Leicester, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality cost consultancy and commercial management services throughout the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading multiple construction projects, acting as the main point of contact for clients and the design team
  • Managing and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors and apprentices
  • Preparing and reviewing cost plans, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation
  • Monitoring project budgets, forecasts, and final accounts
  • Ensuring contractual compliance, particularly with JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Representing the consultancy at client meetings, presentations, and industry events
  • Supporting business development by identifying opportunities and building long-term client relationships
  • Ensuring all work aligns with company quality standards and industry best practices

Person

The ideal candidate for this Senior Quantity Surveyor role in Leicester will be an experienced professional with a strong track record in private practice or construction consultancy. To be successful in this Senior Quantity Surveyor role, you will need:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or similar
  • Chartered status (MRICS), or commitment to achieve it within two years
  • Experience with a private practice, cost consultancy, or multidisciplinary firm
  • Familiarity with CostX measurement software (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to visit UK project sites
  • A proactive and solution-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
