Quantity Surveyor
OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable construction consultancy in Nottingham. This role offers exposure to a wide range of construction projects across both pre- and post-contract stages, with responsibility for delivering professional cost and commercial services.
This position is suited to an experienced quantity surveyor who is confident in managing commercial responsibilities, supporting project delivery, and contributing to client satisfaction across multiple schemes.

ROLE
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for delivering cost management services across multiple construction projects, working both independently and as part of a wider commercial team.
The role will involve managing cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with client expectations. You will play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the successful commercial delivery of schemes from inception through to completion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing pre- and post-contract cost management services
- Preparing and managing cost plans, budgets, and cost reports
- Leading procurement processes and preparing tender documentation
- Managing contractor valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Monitoring project costs, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinating commercial information between clients, contractors, and consultants
- Administering contracts under JCT and/or NEC forms
- Attending and leading project meetings as required
- Providing accurate and timely financial updates to clients and internal stakeholders
- Supporting risk management and value engineering initiatives
- Maintaining a professional, proactive, and detail-focused approach
PERSON
The ideal Quantity Surveyor will demonstrate:
- A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a built environment discipline
- Proven experience in a construction consultancy or contractor environment
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Experience delivering projects across residential, commercial, or infrastructure sectors
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage workloads independently
- Competency with Microsoft Office software
- Sound understanding of procurement routes and cost management processes
