Role

As a Quantity Surveyor in Nottingham, you will be responsible for the financial and contractual management of construction projects from inception to completion. Working closely with clients, contractors and design teams, you will ensure cost efficiency, value for money and commercial success across every stage of the project lifecycle.

This is an excellent quantity surveying opportunity for an ambitious cost manager or chartered quantity surveyor looking to develop their consultancy career within a growing practice. The position would suit a consultancy or client-side Quantity Surveyor with experience in residential or affordable housing projects and a strong understanding of cost planning and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor in Nottingham, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets and feasibility studies for construction projects across residential, commercial and healthcare sectors.
  • Managing tender processes, including preparing bills of quantities, contract documentation and tender analysis.
  • Carrying out valuations of work in progress and preparing interim applications for payment and monthly cost reports.
  • Monitoring project costs through effective cost control and preparing regular financial reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Advising clients on procurement strategies, cost planning, contract management and value engineering opportunities.
  • Ensuring compliance with JCT and NEC contracts and all relevant construction regulations including contract administration processes.
  • Delivering a consistently high level of client service, communication and professionalism across all project stages.
  • Supporting the commercial team with cost forecasting, risk management and change control procedures.

Person

To be successful in this Quantity Surveyor job in Nottingham, you will ideally bring demonstrable experience working within a construction consultancy or client-side environment on residential, commercial or public sector projects.

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy, client-side organisation or cost management practice.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction-related discipline.
  • Sound knowledge of JCT and NEC standard forms of contract including contract administration and variations.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and commercial acumen with excellent cost control skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and report writing skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and contractors.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a focus on client satisfaction and delivering value-driven solutions.
  • UK driving licence and access to own car for visiting sites across Nottingham and the East Midlands.

Desirable:

  • Working towards MRICS or keen to pursue RICS chartership with APC support provided.
  • Experience in residential, affordable housing or healthcare projects.
  • Knowledge of cost planning consultant methodologies and procurement frameworks.
