An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and detail-driven Pre-Construction Planner to join a well-established construction business based in Derby. This position is ideal for someone with strong scheduling and programming expertise, who enjoys collaborating across commercial and technical teams to shape project success from the very start.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Producing detailed NEC4-compliant tender programmes, complete with critical path, float, resource histograms and time-risk allowances

Interpreting technical and commercial documentation to develop clear, logic-based schedules

Collaborating closely with estimating and bid teams to align programme with design intent and commercial strategy

Presenting programme approach at internal bid reviews and external client meetings

Generating procurement, phasing and milestone extracts for inclusion in bid documents

Advising on buildability, methodology and sequencing challenges across tender schemes

Supporting risk and opportunity reviews by integrating mitigation strategies into the programme

Reviewing post-tender feedback and embedding lessons learned into future programming approaches

PERSON

A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in pre-construction planning

Proficiency in Asta Powerproject is essential; knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is advantageous

A strong understanding of NEC3/4 contract programme requirements, including float, critical path and time risk allowance (TRA)

Working knowledge of construction sequencing, phasing and design/procurement workflows

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments

Confidence in managing your own workload while supporting wider team and bid strategies

REMUNERATION

Competitive salary: circa £65,000–£75,000 (depending on experience)

Car allowance: £5,500

Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
