Atkins Search is recruiting a Monitoring Surveyor on behalf of our client, a highly respected Construction Consultancy based in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a bright and ambitious MRICS-qualified Cost Consultant, Quantity Surveyor, or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to transition into a fund monitoring role within a growing and supportive consultancy environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of monitoring services across the private sector, while helping to establish and grow the London team.

This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong Quantity Surveyor who enjoys the financial and commercial side of projects and is looking to develop a specialist career in fund and development monitoring.
Role
As a Monitoring Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting clients, funders, and investors in managing and mitigating project risks through robust due diligence and cost monitoring.
You’ll lead and report on projects from a monitoring perspective, applying your strong Quantity Surveying background to assess cost, programme, risk, and compliance across a wide range of developments.
The position offers an exciting route for an experienced QS or SQS seeking to broaden their career within a specialist and growing service area.
Responsibilities
As a Monitoring Surveyor employed by our client, your duties will include:
- Undertaking initial due diligence, development appraisals, and project risk assessments
- Preparing detailed fund monitoring reports for clients and financial institutions
- Reviewing development costs, procurement strategies, and construction programmes
- Carrying out site inspections and progress reviews
- Identifying and reporting on potential risks, variances, and issues affecting project delivery
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, developers, and funders
- Supporting management in the continued growth of the London team and regional service offering
- Contributing to business development and networking within the South market
Person
The ideal Monitoring Surveyor will demonstrate:
- MRICS-qualified (up to 5 years post-qualification) or working towards
- 2-3 years’ post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Strong understanding of cost management, construction processes, and risk management
- Excellent report writing and analytical skills
- Experience delivering projects within the private sector (commercial, residential, or mixed-use)
- Good understanding of the London and South market
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Desirable:
- Previous exposure to monitoring or funder-side roles
- Based in London or the surrounding areas
