Client
Our client is a long-established main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering framework-led projects across the East Midlands. They partner with a select group of clients and developers on both tendered and negotiated schemes, operating across the public and private sectors. With a consistent pipeline of work, they prioritise quality over volume and are known for their collaborative, people-focused culture.
Role
As the Health & Safety Advisor/Manager, you will drive the company’s HSE agenda by ensuring best practice is maintained across all projects and within the wider business. You will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, supporting site teams, and ensuring legislative compliance.
Responsibilities
- Attend HSE meetings to review and enhance existing systems, policies and processes.
- Update and develop company Health & Safety policies and documentation.
- Produce Construction Health & Safety Plans and supporting documentation, maintaining all associated records, registers and data.
- Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared across the business.
- Carry out site HSE audits and inspections.
- Provide comprehensive accident/incident investigation reports.
- Support the Pre-Construction team as required on HSE matters.
- Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental management.
Person
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor or Manager with a construction main contractor.
- Strong technical knowledge of current H&S legislation and a commitment to staying updated with industry changes.
- NEBOSH certification and a relevant CSCS card.
- Experience conducting site inspections and investigating accidents/incidents.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver clear safety messages.
- Strong problem-solving ability and confident use of Microsoft Office.
- A self-motivated, flexible approach and the ability to work independently under pressure with high attention to detail.
- A positive, engaging attitude with the ability to build lasting relationships across all levels of the business.
