Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a diverse programme of construction projects across the public estate.

Working closely with Commercial, Procurement and Operational teams, you'll support projects from early-stage feasibility through to delivery, ensuring schemes are accurately priced, effectively procured and efficiently mobilised.

This is a varied and fast-paced position where you'll be responsible for managing multiple projects at different stages whilst contributing to high-quality project outcomes across a broad public sector portfolio.

Responsibilities

As an Estimator in Nottingham, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the procurement of construction projects through framework agreements and tender processes.

Preparing and issuing subcontractor enquiries, mini-competitions and quality-based tenders.

Collating, analysing and comparing quotations from contractors and supply chain partners.

Producing project pricing documentation, including preliminaries, staffing costs and package information.

Providing cost planning support for feasibility studies and early-stage project development.

Maintaining and updating project pipeline trackers to monitor progress across key delivery stages.

Working closely with Project Managers, Operational teams and Commercial colleagues to support project planning and mobilisation.

Supporting supplier engagement activities and performance reviews.

Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across pricing, procurement and project tracking processes.

Preparing reports, pricing data and procurement records to support governance and internal reporting requirements.

Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with internal procedures, procurement regulations and framework requirements.

Person

To be successful in this Estimator role, you will bring practical experience within construction estimating, pre-construction, procurement or commercial functions.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience preparing cost plans, pricing estimates, tender documentation and procurement packages.
  • Strong understanding of construction procurement processes and project delivery stages.
  • Experience working within construction, property, refurbishment or maintenance environments.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and commercial awareness.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience building productive relationships with contractors, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

  • A-Levels, NVQ or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant qualification in Construction, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, Procurement or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or interested in achieving professional membership would be advantageous.
