As the Design Manager in construction, you will be working as part of an established, successful Design team. You will lead the design process, promote integration of multiple disciplines, and select, manage and appoint consultants to ensure they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services.

You will be responsible as the Construction Design Manager for monitoring and reporting on design programmes, whilst also providing technical support to the bid process. You will be managing multiple construction projects at various stages from tender stage, live projects through to practical completion.

Key Design Manager responsibilities include:

• Chair design team meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Lead the design process to produce accurate technical information in line with agreed specifications and cost plans
• Produce designs to meet all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals including Building Regulations
• Develop comprehensive design programmes with external consultants to meet agreed whole life programme dates
• Appoint and manage design consultants, ensuring performance aligns with their professional deed and agreed scope of services
• Provide cost-effective technical solutions and value engineering opportunities
• Support preconstruction activities and tender submissions
• Monitor design progress and report on programme milestones

The ideal candidate for this Design Manager job in Nottingham will have a proven track record as a Design Manager working in a construction main contracting environment. You will need to be proactive, positive and confident when communicating at all levels, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Essential Design Manager requirements:

• Architectural, Design Management or construction-related degree qualification
• Proven experience working for a construction main contractor on similar scale projects
• Both preconstruction and construction delivery experience essential
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive, driven and team-oriented professional attitude
• Ability to operate autonomously whilst collaborating with wider teams across the business
• Strong understanding of CAD software, Microsoft Office suite and various construction technology platforms
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and construction standards
