ROLE
As the Contracts Manager in Peterborough, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple housing projects, typically within an hour of Spalding. You'll oversee both traditional and timber frame builds, including developments of up to 100 units, managing all aspects from contract administration through to final handover.
This is a key project leadership role where you'll manage project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure programmes, budgets and quality standards are met. You'll maintain strong client relationships and provide clear communication across all sites, whilst overseeing risk management, health and safety compliance and regulatory requirements in line with CDM 2015.
Your role will also involve providing regular updates to construction senior management and driving continuous improvement across multiple projects concurrently.
Responsibilities:
As a Contracts Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the efficient and economical execution of construction contracts under agreed contract conditions, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Work in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor and delivery team to ensure accurate project delivery whilst maintaining quality standards and programme progress.
- Provide sound advice, guidance and support to the project team throughout the full lifecycle of housebuilding projects, from pre-construction to completion.
- Promote the wellbeing of your teams and ensure an inclusive workplace where diversity of thought, backgrounds and experience is actively encouraged.
- Manage multiple housing projects concurrently with a hands-on, positive and methodical approach to site operations.
- Liaise directly with the project team, tenants and client on a regular basis to ensure full transparency, regular project updates and strong stakeholder management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building regulations and local authority agreements, with a strong commitment to CDM compliance and risk management.
- Oversee contract administration, including variations, subcontractor coordination and supplier management.
PERSON
The ideal candidate for this Contracts Manager job in Peterborough will have a proven track record as a Contracts Manager in a new build housing environment, delivering similar residential projects at scale. You will be proactive, positive and confident communicating at all levels, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proven experience as a Construction Contracts Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar project leadership role within housebuilding or residential development.
- Strong communication and person management skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and lead diverse project teams.
- A good understanding of building regulations, construction contracts (such as JCT or NEC), local authority agreements and planning processes.
- A methodical, professional and collaborative approach to managing multiple priorities and project delivery.
- Ability to organise your workload effectively.
- Commitment to health and safety compliance and risk management.
- Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, NEBOSH or a degree in Construction Management are highly desirable.
