  • OverviewAtkins Search have been appointed by one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies to recruit a Commercial Manager to lead the Commercial function across the business.My client will also consider a Senior Quantity Surveyor for this position. ClientOur client is a leading specialist in their sector, providing a range of renewable energy technologies including consulting, designing, installation and maintenance of commercial solar, energy storage and electrical infrastructure. Helping businesses reach net zero, my client are involved with a wide variety of interesting projects ranging in values of up to circa £8m. Due to expansion, they have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to take ownership of the Commercial function through its next growth phase, offering a unique opportunity to be part of something quite special. RoleReporting into the Directors, you will be responsible for the Commercial function of the business, supporting the delivery of projects. As the first “commercial boots” on the ground, you will have a opportunity to shape the function and become a key member of the Senior Leadership team. Responsibilities
  • Managing operational relationships with suppliers and clients
  • Driving commercial outcomes of projects through effect procurement
  • Negotiating contracts with supply chain and clients
  • Commercially supporting Project teams to capture variations and opportunities
  • Develop and analyse project budgets, forecasts and financial models on a commercial level to ensure cost effectiveness and profitability is achieved
  • Continually analyse project costings and report to Senior Team on profitability, loss, and opportunity
  • Strong Contractual understanding to support internal teams in contractual understanding, highlighting, and mitigating risks
  • Mitigating resource concerns by sourcing and vetting new suppliers, contractors, and vendors
  • Analyse Project data, generate reports and present findings to Senior Management Team highlighting KPI’s, making recommendations and creating action plans
  • Assist in providing leadership and guidance to the internal teams setting objectives and targets to assist in professional development of individuals
  • Stay up to date with Industry regulation, compliance and codes of practice ensuring compliance to legal and ethical standardsPerson
  • Proven experience within a fast paced commercial contracting and competitive industry
  • A BSc in Quantity Surveying Construction Cost Management or similar
  • Excellent NEC and JCT contract management and negotiation skills with a proven track record
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and considerate of implications
  • Ability to multi-task successfully, working across several projects and with a number of Project Managers simultaneously
  • Organised, and the ability to prioritise work accordingly to meet deadlines
