CAD Designer

OVERVIEW

Are you a skilled CAD Designer looking for your next step in the East Midlands? We’re hiring an experienced CAD Design to join a specialist joinery and fit-out business working on national projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of bespoke joinery, shopfitting and POS display projects, translating creative concepts into practical and manufacturable designs.

CLIENT

Our client is a well-established, family-founded company operating within bespoke joinery, shopfitting and point-of-sale display manufacturing. With in-house CNC routing, finishing and installation capabilities, they partner with leading design studios and brands to deliver high-quality projects from initial design through to manufacture and installation.

ROLE

As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings that support both the creative vision and manufacturing requirements of each project. Working closely with project managers, production teams and external designers, you will ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and ready for workshop fabrication and on-site installation.

This position is well suited to a CAD Designer who values autonomy and ownership in their work. Rather than being closely micromanaged, you will be trusted to take responsibility for your projects from concept through to manufacture, with the freedom to apply your expertise and problem-solving skills. You’ll be part of a supportive team, but given the space to manage your own workload, contribute ideas and take pride in delivering high-quality design solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a CAD Designer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for bespoke joinery, shopfitting and POS projects.
  • Translate creative design concepts into manufacturing-ready technical drawings, including joinery details, tolerances, and assembly methods.
  • Support the workshop and CNC team with cutting lists, machining details and technical documentation.
  • Work with project managers and external design teams to review and adapt designs for manufacturability and feasibility.
  • Assist with prototypes and mock-ups, refining designs before full-scale production.
  • Ensure all drawings and records are maintained with correct version control.
  • Consider site installation challenges and adapt designs to ensure smooth delivery in both controlled and live trading environments.

PERSON

  • To be successful in this CAD Designer role in the East Midlands, you will bring relevant experience within a Joinery setting and have the below:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp or similar CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of joinery techniques, materials and finishes (timber, MDF, laminates, glass, metal, Corian, acrylic).
  • Previous experience in shopfitting, bespoke joinery or POS display design is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • A portfolio demonstrating previous CAD design work within joinery or fit-out would be advantageous.

REMUNERATION

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Flexible hours
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • Chance to work on high-profile, diverse, bespoke projects in a collaborative and skilled team environment
  • Office-based, no travel
  • Christmas closure
  • Modern, vibrant office facilities
  • Private healthcare
