Business Development Manager


Atkins Search are currently working with a well-recognised M&E
contractor to recruit a Business Development Manager to join their versatile and dedicated team.


Based in Nottingham, our client holds over 100 years within the mechanical and electrical industry
offering services
on Commercial, Industrial, Heritage, Residential, New Build and Refurbishment Projects on behalf of major clients nationwide.


Operating as the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities and clients. You will be focused on developing strategic partnerships, managing client relationships, and expanding the business’ portfolio for new tenders.

You will be working as part of a collaborative team to form strategies and cultivate and uniformed, connected approach.


  • Maintain and develop industry relationships with consultants
  • Implement business development strategies with the team, keeping in-line the business’ growth plans
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through various channels; networking events, completing market research to identify trends and opportunities
  • Keep internal CRM up to date to manage reports and track progress industry conferences and marketing
  • Advocate and promote the business brand to drive visibility and brand awareness


The ideal candidate for the Business Development Manager job will have a proven track record as a Business Development Manager in an M&E contracting environment.

You will also need to be proactive, positive and confident communicating at all levels and able to work as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills
  • Established network within the M&E industry
  • Experienced in networking and negotiating with industry professionals and clients
  • Understanding of market trends, procurement routes, market competition and client requirements
  • Ability to confidently present and represent the company brand
  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically and piece together a proactive process to achieve business targets
